Study of Effectiveness
Yankelevich Educational Services contracted a company to evaluate the effectiveness of the “Y.E.S. Parenting Skills” program, focusing on the issues of positive behavior modification during the years 2003-2004.
Financial-Reporter.org conducted the study with 545 individuals who participated in the program in 21 different schools. The 545 respondents represent only 20% of the total of participants of the program during their years.
It is also important to note that the respondents answered the questionnaire before, during and after the program “Y.E.S. Parenting Skills”.
The results
The results of the survey clearly show that:
• 93% of the parents changed their disciplinary techniques.
• The majority of parent participants reduced physical, emotional and mental punishment significantly.
• The majority of parent participants improved their self-control in critical situations with their children, losing their patience fewer times as they learned how to reduce their own stress during the attendance of the workshops.
• The parents gained more confidence in their ability to face difficult situations with their children which reduces the stress time at home and allows them to share more quality time as a family.
• 88% of the respondents were able to manage the time of homework better, established routines, and were more involved in the children’s education. These factors, plus the tension reduction in the relationship between parents and children resulted in better school performance of their children.
• As a result of the change of attitude and behavior of the parents towards their children, 84% of them noticed positive changes in their children’s relationship with friends. The increase of the children’s self-esteem and the better relationship with their parents improves their social skills.
